As women entrepreneurs, we’re often inundated with advice about all the things we should be doing to market our businesses. Social media, blogging, video, email campaigns—the list can feel endless and exhausting. But what if I told you that the secret to marketing success isn’t about doing everything—it’s about doing what brings you joy?
This is the concept I call Marketing Joy.
What Is Marketing Joy?
Marketing Joy is when you only implement marketing tactics that light you up—the ones that genuinely bring you happiness. Why? Because marketing infused with joy is magnetic. As a Law of Attraction practitioner, I believe that “like attracts like.” When you’re joyful, your marketing carries that high-vibe energy, and it attracts amazing results to your business.
But there’s another bonus—your mindset will thank you. When you’re implementing joyful marketing strategies, you’re less likely to feel stressed, overwhelmed, or resistant. Instead, you’ll feel aligned and excited. And that alignment leads to one of the most critical keys to marketing success: consistency.
The Power of Joyful Consistency
We all know consistency is crucial in marketing, but let’s be honest—it’s hard to stay consistent when you’re forcing yourself to do tasks you despise. If the mere thought of writing a blog post or recording a TikTok makes you groan, how likely are you to stick with it? Not very.
But when your marketing is joyful, consistency becomes a natural byproduct. You’ll find yourself looking forward to the tasks you’ve chosen, and your audience will feel that energy too.
How to Find Your Marketing Joy
Here’s a simple exercise to uncover your Marketing Joy:
- Make Two Lists.
On one list, write down all the marketing tactics you genuinely enjoy. Maybe you love creating Instagram Reels, hosting webinars, or connecting with your audience via email. On the second list, jot down all the tactics you dread or struggle with—like cold calls, lengthy blog posts, or managing a Facebook group. - Choose Your Top 2-3 Joyful Tactics.
From your “love” list, pick two or three tactics to focus on. These will become your intentional marketing strategy. By narrowing your focus, you’ll have the time and energy to give these tactics your all, and that intentionality will show in your results. - Ignore or Outsource the Rest.
Everything on your “hate” list can be ignored or outsourced. Yes, really! If blogging feels like pulling teeth, stop doing it. If creating graphics isn’t your thing, hire someone who loves it. Marketing is like a Las Vegas buffet—there are plenty of options, and you don’t have to put everything on your plate.
But Won’t I Miss Out?
One of the biggest fears entrepreneurs face is the idea that they’ll lose opportunities if they don’t implement certain marketing strategies. But this fear comes from a scarcity mindset. When you approach marketing with an abundance mindset, you realize that success comes not from doing everything, but from doing the right things consistently.
Trust me—if you focus on the 2-3 tactics that bring you joy, you’ll do them with such passion and energy that your audience will feel it. And that’s far more effective than half-heartedly tackling a dozen strategies you dislike.
Joyful Marketing in Action
Let me give you a personal example. I’m a low-energy introvert, so the idea of attending in-person networking events drains me. But I love connecting virtually through Zoom—so much so that I founded Virtual Networkers to create a joyful networking space for women entrepreneurs like me. I infused my marketing with joy, and the results speak for themselves.
When you align your marketing with what makes your heart sing, you create a ripple effect of positivity—for yourself, your audience, and your business.
Your Turn to Embrace Marketing Joy
What’s on your “love” list? Take a moment to jot down your favorite marketing tactics and start infusing your business with joy. You deserve to feel good about the way you show up for your audience. After all, when you show up with joy, you’ll attract the kind of clients and opportunities that bring even more happiness into your life.
Let’s create marketing that feels good—and works wonders.
